Default Vista Home Premium edition erroneously report missing scanner driv

I have two laptop PC's one with Windows XP and the other Windows Vista Home
Premium. The Vista receives automatic updates. My Canon Multifunction printer
MP470 is installed on both systems and worked fine until a few days ago when
trying to launch the MP Navigator I received the message: " The scanner
driver supported by this software is not installed. Install it and try
again."

The Navigator function still works fine on the XP, only Vista issues this
error. I have uninstalled all components of the MP470 from Vista and
re-installed once from the original Canon CD that came with the product and a
second time from most recent software and drivers from Canon website with no
results.

I would appreciate any solutions one may have for this error. Thanks.
