Default FAX COMPLETELY MISSING

Toshiba Pilot, SP3, XP Pro.
I hadn't used the fax in a few months and when I tried, error message of
"could not connect to the fax server"...
I deleted the fax from the printer options thinking it would re-install
itself. No. It did not come back.
So I have re-downloaded and re-=installed SP3 4 or 5 times. When I try to
set up the fax it reports it can't "find" the list of fx---.dll's I've tried
to look for them in the i386 file. I've decompressed them from the SP
storage. Now the message is telling me to re-load from the XP disc, which is
in another location. Anything I can do? what caused it?

Default FAX COMPLETELY MISSING

Start, Control Panel, Add / Remove Programs, Add / Remove Windows
Components, Fax Services. Is the box before Fax Services checked?

Hope this helps.

So which part of it did you try? If you had applied SP's after the initial
installation but before you tried the reinstallation your problem could be
this one:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=884018 - You cannot add a Windows component
in Windows XP
