Hi,

I am getting below error whenever I plug any external dvd writer. I am
currently using XP SP3. Any help how to resolve it

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent
damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your
computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in
the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacture for driver
update.Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any bios updates. Disable BIOS memory
options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove
or disable components, restart your, press f8 to select advance options, and
then select safe mode.

Technical Information:

*** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xc0000005,0x806e694f,0xa8625264,0x00000000)

0x0000008E: KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
A kernel mode program generated an exception which the error handler
didn't catch. These are nearly always hardware compatibility issues
(which sometimes means a driver issue or a need for a BIOS upgrade).

Look at the Stop Error Report.

Does the error occur during the boot process, after the completion of
the boot process or any time?

Does the error occur in safe mode?

Background information on Stop Error message 0x8E
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms794023.aspx

0x0000008E: KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
A kernel mode program generated an exception which the error handler
didn't catch. These are nearly always hardware compatibility issues
(which sometimes means a driver issue or a need for a BIOS upgrade).
Source: http://aumha.org/a/stop.htm

Look at the Stop Error Report.
Under the code a file is sometimes named.

Does the error occur during the boot process, after the completion
of the boot process or any time?

Does the error occur in safe mode?

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I am getting below error whenever I plug any external dvd writer.
I am currently using XP SP3. Any help how to resolve it

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to
prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error
screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow
these steps: Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a
driver is
identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with
the manufacture for driver update.Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any bios updates. Disable BIOS
memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use
safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your, press f8
to select advance options, and then select safe mode.
