Questions about Q318365
I run a sign shop and regularly print long wide-format
graphics from my computer, which uses XP Home Edition. I saw the Q318365 support page and was glad that you were finally addressing the Windows GDI limitations issue that plagues my industry. The support page said I needed to download the latest service pack updates (to SP1a) and it would fix the problem. It also told me the problem was in the win32k.sys file, and I looked at that file and the specs did not match. So I downloaded the files, restarted my computer, and looked at my System Properties, and it still says I'm running under SP1, not SP1a. Also, I checked the win32k.sys file, and it still was not updated to the version listed on the support page. I looked at the top of the page, and it said the issue was for XP Professional. That leads me to a few questions: -- Does this support page apply to XP Home? -- If not, are you going to address the Windows GDI limitations issue in XP Home? -- What is the info on the latest version of the win32k.sys file for XP Home? -- Would it say "SP1" on the System Properties box if I actually downloaded SP1a? Or is SP1a only for XP Pro? -- Is upgrading to Pro the only way I'm going to work around the built-in length limitations in Windows? Thanks for your time, and I look forward to your reply.
