Default Add Printer Wizard not working.

I think I'm having the same problema as you... I can't
seem to print and it keeps coming up with error messages
-----Original Message-----
I'm running Windows XP Professional and just recently

i've
lost the ability to print. I believe after one of the
microsoft updates the add printer wizard stopped working
and my printer just disappeared. I've tried starting

the
spooler but it didn't work and everytime i restart my
computer, the print spooler remains unstarted, even

after
i set it to automatically start. I don't know what to

do
and i've tried everything. When I open the add printer
wizard it says "Operation could not be completed." and
nothing else. I tried adding the printer through the

add
hardware wizard but when i did it gives the error

of "The
specified port is unknown." after instalation. I've

also
tried deleting all dll files from the systemroot, which
didn't work and then tried replacing twain.dll,
twain_32.dll, and vmmreg32.dll with fresh copies from

the
cd.
