Default Mapping network drives

Is it possible to map morpe than 5 network drives in XP Home Edition? For instance...I have network drives mapped D:-N: and my cdrom and dvd have been reassigned letters of X: and Y:. But for some reason it wants to reset back to the default. Why is that?
Is it because I have too many network drives? Will I have to upgrade to XP Pro? Thanks for any help.
