Default RPC Service Terminates Unexpectedly while browsing the Internet

Well, I have removed the blaster worm virus, but now I get
an error 678 - according to MS, possibly a compatibility
issue, but the modem I bought specifically had XP listed
as a compatible modem...and before I removed the virus at
least it would connect to my ISP.....????? I'm no IT
genius, and I'm getting tired ----- any suggestions?

I guess I could of read a little farther than the first
page here - others with similar problems are told they
have the blaster worm virus. I'll remove it, and give it

a
try. Kind of wierd it'd be on both an old Dell that

hasn't
been on the internet in a couple years, and on a used
compaq I just bought - maybe just my luck. I thought it
had to do with upgrading 95 to XP...

-----Original Message-----
I've installed XP on 2 different machines that

previously
ran 95. I bought a Netodragon internal XP modem and
installed it on each. Both give me the same message and
shut down after connecting to and browsing the internet
(sometimes after 2 min, sometimes after 20 min).

It says:
NT Authority System initiated shutdown

The Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Service Terminated
Unexpectedly

Generic Host for Win32 Services has encountered a

problem
and needs to close

szAppName: svchost.exe
szAppVer: 5.1.2600.0
When Problem Occurred - OP system, hardware & IP address
of computer

temp\WERI.tmp.dir00\svhost.exe.mdmp appcompat.txt

Anybody know what's going on?
