Default No Network Connection

I have cable and everything works fine. The problem is when I open Network Connections it is empty. I can't seem to add a connection. So therefore I can't turn on the firewall. Any ideas

what do you mean "everything works fine"? can you ping? what are the
ipconfig /all look like? post here may help.
