Default Wireless Networking keeps disconnecting

I have WinXP Home set up with a wireless network in my
home. When I use my laptop, it keeps disconnecting from
the network and telling me that there are other wireless
networks available. I have my home wireless network
setup as the only preferred network, yet it still
disconnects from the network every 30 seconds or so in
order to let me know about the other networks. Is there
any way to prevent this from happening?

Take a look at Knowledge base Article 815485 which contains the download for the Zero Configuration Utiltity. This application will aloow you to lock out any wirless networkyou do not want to connect to.
