HP Laser prints blank pages

Since introducing several PCs to Win XP Pro on our LAN,
our HP Colour Laserjet 4550 has intermittently started
printing out reams of blank pages. I'm assuming that the
XP driver (PCL6) for this machine is causing the problem -
can anyone confirm this, and suggest a fix?
