Default Reinstalling Win XP

Hi every one .... I hope to find a solution for my problem here ASAP.

2 days ago I had the problem with the printer so I uninstall the driver but I COULD NOT reinstall it again .. I got the error message "Access denied" I tried with other administrator account and I even create new one ..but no use.

So, I selected the Windows folder and change attribute to compressed then I uncompressed it and I change my access write (As Administrator) to full control on the folder then I restart the machine. Now the PROBLEM:

After the loading screen "The one that shows XP logo and the small blue process indication bar" I got a blue screen saying "Fetal System Error ... [some words and numbers that I don't recall] ... system is shut down" the PC hang and I hove to restart using
the RESET bottom, but the same message comes again.

I reinstall WinXP on the same directory, i.e. Repair Windows (R) "in-place installation", the process completed and the machine restarted, but now after the loading screen I got a back screen showing the mouse indicator only and stop working, I tried Safe
Mode but I got the thing.

I hope you can help me to get over the problem, because I can not Install a fresh copy of XP, since my brother have an encrypted files/folders on his account desktop and he don’t want to loss access to them.

Sounds like (possibly) bad hardware - as for which component - no way to
tell from the information given.

As I assume you need data off of it, I doubt you want to try a clean
installation?

The dreaded blue screan of death

I agree with Shenan it sounds like a hardware ar possible a driver fault
do you have the exact wording that was written in the blue screen?
as this can sometimes point to the problem
