Default (Workgroup) is not accessable message!

I have four machines in a home network with a Netgear router. One machine
runs win 98, two run XPH, one XPP. All four can access the internet through
the router. The windows 98 machine can share files with the Basement machine
(XPH), THe office machine (XPH) can see share files with the Win98 machine.
The office cannot see or share files with the basement machine. I hav edone
the networking wizard disc). The XPP machine can see all the machines but
cannot access them. It gets the (workgorup name) is not acessable message.

I have tried everything to get these machinces to recognize and share file,
can anyone giv eme some more suggestions to try?

Although question is not clear, I think it might be the problem the way you
set up your accounts in different way in some computers.

VERIFY:::

1. Make sure you got same user name and password for """" ADMINISTRATOR"""
account. Most of them think that I created a user account called TOM, Every
machine has to have TOM. No, that is wrong. You can but not necessary.
Important thing to share is that ADMINISTRATIVE login name and password must
be same.

2. I think that is where you messing up, also. MAKE SURE EVERY MACHINE has
the same workgroup name!!!

3. . If you can, upgrade your Windows XP HOME to WIN XP PRO which will be
good for you.

4. I said to UPGRADE Windows XP HOME EDITION is that Home Edition do not
have group policy, not a big deal but can have only 1 share. Someone also
said 5 concurrent network connections. Also, no IIS. Internet Info service to
host a website.
That is bad OS.

You know, that is erroneous. The OP has no need to upgrade his XP Home
machines. I think the OP's question was *quite* clear - your answers
are not. Mr. Sheridan, please run through MVP Hans-Georg Michna's
troubleshooter he

http://www.michna.com/kb/wxnet.htm

Then post back with your results if you need more help. Additionally,
make sure you have enabled simple sharing on the XP Pro box (Folder
OptionsView) since the Home boxen use it by default.

Since we don't know what you've tried, Mr. Michna's troubleshooter will
help you narrow down the problems.
