Windows XP Pro SP2 Security Center Not Finding AV & Firewall Softw
I suspect that this message is the result of a recent virus on my PC. Whilst
the virus is now cleaned from my PC, I suspect that its legacy remains, ? in the way of a registry change causing the Security Center to state that it can't find the relevent software. All software is up to date and was previously recognised by the Security Center. When I try to access Windows Firewall via the Control Panel, I get this message, "Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings." Both the Firewall (ZoneAlarm) & AV (eTrust VET) software appear to be working correctly. Thanks in advance for your help and ideas on correcting this problem. -- RainSong |

Thanks Malke. I ran what you suggested and received the message
"DllRegisterServer in hnetcfg.dll succeeded.", but unfortunately with no positive outcome to my problem. -- RainSong "Malke" wrote: RainSong wrote: I suspect that this message is the result of a recent virus on my PC. Remove the machine from the Internet and any lans. Uninstall/reinstall your antivirus software. Now connect to the Internet and update your av and do a thorough scan with it in Safe Mode. It would be wise to go through other malware removal steps, too: http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware Malke -- MS-MVP Windows User/Shell Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic" |
