System Restore
I have a partitioned hard drive (C-F). System Restore is "monitoring"
the C partition only (15GB free space). Over the past two weeks, I have only two restore points, one created by me and one created by System Restore both on the same day. What determines how often and when System Restore creates restore points ?? TIA |

System Restore
Hi,
By default System Restore creates an automatic restore point every 24 hours. Automatic restore points are only created during idle time; for example, when there is no mouse, keyboard, or disk i/o activity. Here are some troubleshooting steps to take when System Restore fails to create an automatic restore point: http://bertk.mvps.org/html/srauto.html And troubleshooting missing restore points: http://bertk.mvps.org/html/missingrps.html -- Regards, Bert Kinney MS-MVP Shell/User http://bertk.mvps.org Member: http://dts-l.org "ShuBDoo" wrote in message ... I think the reason I have no automatic points is because I usually turn the computer off after I've finished. I don't mind manually making points. Thanks, again, for the support. That will do it. Doug Knox created a VB utility that will create a restore point with on user intervention which can be place in the Startup folder. This will create a restore point every time the system is started. http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_sysrestorepoint.htm -- Regards, Bert Kinney MS-MVP Shell/User http://bertk.mvps.org Member: http://dts-l.org |
