Default dvd re-writers and media player

It is comforting to know that microsoft is doing a good job with its security
updates.
NOW if i could just find out why when i try to burn a dvd the computer tells
me theres a problem and then opens media player i would be happier.

I didnt ask it to burn a media file, not music, not video just a data file,
so why on earth does it now want to mess about and give me media player.

XP cannot burn a DVD, you need 3rd party software for that.
