Anti Virus on XP
I try to install Panda on XP and I am told to uninstall One Care, which I
have already done. What do I do next? Is One Care hiding an entry somewhere in registry?? Sh*t. -Pete |

Did you use the final link in the conversation? http://support.microsoft.com/oas/def...n=en-us&sd=win .... and report the issue? The best people to help you are those who support the application. Getting the cleanup utility and chatting with the MS tech support is probably your best bet at finding a solution. Then you can come back here and post the details so others might not end up with the same issue and no answer. "Pete" wrote: I try to install Panda on XP and I am told to uninstall One Care, which I have already done. What do I do next? Is One Care hiding an entry somewhere in registry?? Not here????????????? -Pete Hi Pete, I understand your frustration, Panada is the best Anti-virus out there now untill they start make a lot of Bucks££££ and you know it start screw up!. The only thing is I don't like it about them is they don't like their Product installed with others!!!. I had it before and it didn't install unless I uninstall Spybot S&D? and clean it from the Windows Explorwer and the Registry. Open the registry and Right click any HKEY and select *find* from the drop down list and type wins OneCare and delete ( be warrned back up your Registry before deleting anything as always you can revert back from the Backup copy ). When finished Reboot and try to install *Panada* and I think you could after this install OneCare or other Anti-spyware if wish. HTH. Please let us know your progress. Regards, nass |

Anti Virus on XP
Microsoft gave me this answer and it worked!!!!!!!!! Here it is for the
benefit of others: "From your description, I understand that after removing Windows Live OneCare, Panda cannot be installed onto the system, indicating OneCare is still installed. If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. This issue is caused by certain Windows Live OneCare registry keys that remaining in the system. I suggest we perform the following steps to delete them manually: 1. Restart your computer. 2. Click Start, click Run, type "regedit" (without quotation marks) in the Open box, and then click OK. 3. In the left pane, expand to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MalwareProte ction Note: if the registry cannot be found, please go ahead to install Panda again and check the result. 4. Right click on "MalwareProtection" and choose Permissions. 5. Select "Administrators" from the list and then check "Allow" next to the "Full Control" entry. 6. Click OK. Right click on "MalwareProtection" and choose Delete. 7. Restart your computer and install Panda again." |
