Default Disabling machine debug manager in XP-Pro?

Hello:

One of the services I see running on Startup in services.msc is the Machine Debug Manager. However, I don't see this listed in msconfig in the Startup panel. Several times a week while running a program, I get a notice about some new script debug editor [?] asking me if I wish to debug.....I don't know what debugging is, and I wonder if this service is of any use to me, nor whether it's advisable to have this running at startup.. I don't do programming of any sort.

If it's in fact advisable for me to disable this service, what would be the optimal way to do this?

1) Should I disable it from the services.msc panel?

2) Should i disable it via IE Internet Optuions--Advanced? In Internet Options, there r two boxes pertaining to script debugging, one for: IE and another for: Other. Should I uncheck both?

OTOH...Perhaps it's advisable to leave this service running?

Thanks in advance:

-Eli

This component is useless. You can disable it, the best way to do that is
through the DCOM services manager ( %windir%\system32\dcomcnfg.exe ), but it
can get a little complicated, so I'd suggest disabling it in the Services
Manager ( %SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc /s ).

Additionally, uncheck the two boxes in IE you mentioned

I don't believe the Script Debugging in IE and MDM are associated with each other. MDM comes into play when Office applications or Visual Studio applications (or any 'programming' application) has a problem/crashes. It will put a Windows Dialog window up asking about if you would like to debug.

The window is different from the Script Debugging window in IE.

Hi Senjon:

Do you mean; Run---services.msc--Machine Debug Manager

Then disable from there?

Just trying to be sure....
