Default aol or aim messenger problem

I don't know if you can help me, I feel really stupid about this. How can I
get this aim program to stop running from the start menu...It makes me crazy
as my daughter uses it and it autosigns on from the get go.. Please help

Default aol or aim messenger problem

Greetings Terri,

Assuming she's using the older but more widespread AIM 5.x versions, after it loads open it
up, click the My AIM, menu, Edit Options, and then Edit Preferences. Click the Sign On/Off
category, and then uncheck 'Start AIM when Windows starts'. Also, you may want to uncheck
'Automatically sign on when AIM starts' to make your life easier as well.

Unfortunately there's so many versions of AIM including the new AIM Triton that these
instructions may not be completely accurate. However, the option will be there to stop this,
you may just need to poke around in the menus a little.
