Default video files play sound put no picture(service pack 2 problem?)

I recently installed xp pro on my computer (used to have xp home edition
service pack 1). Now i can get a picture when i play video files. The file is
played, no error messages of any kind, but no picture. I have updated drivers
for everything i can think would be useful (motherboard, graphics card,)
newest dx. All kinds of video players and codec pack, install/uninstalling.
Ive ran windows update too.The same problem all the time.
The only difference from before, when everything worked fine, is i went from
xp home edition sp1 to xp proffesional sp2.
Unfortunatly the windows cd comes with sp 2 so i cant try without sp2.
Someone please help!

What are the file extensions of these videos that you are trying to play?
