my computer will not recognize new print cartridges

I have an Epson 4600 CX all in one. I was out of ink so I installed new
cartridges. Now my computer will not acknowledge the new cartridges. The on
light and ink light flash constantly. When i tried to do a system check it
caused all buttons to flash and an E come up in the copy space

I'd take them back to the store and get new ones, it might be that you have
defective cartridges.

did you remember to take the tape off the bottom of the cartridge.
you might remove the cartridges and re-install them.

if nothing else works, return them.
