Service Pack 2 reinstall questions.
I followed the instructions posted here
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;q318378 to reinstall SP2 in an attempt to repair a broken IE6. Unfortunately, this did not solve the issue with IE (can't download files). My questions a Do I need to reapply all the critical patches since SP2's release? If so, will WSUS re-queue these updates? (Windows Update is not working). Thanks. |

"Windows Update is not working" could be the description of almost anything.
The link you put up could also apply to a number of systems and conditions. You cannot install some updates or programs: http://support.microsoft.com/default...&Product=winxp -- Mark L. Service Pack 2 reinstall questions.
This workstation has all the Microsoft security updates provided to it by
WSUS. We had to reinstall Service Pack 2. By reinstalling SP2, does that mean we have to go back and re-apply all the security updates that have been released since SP2? I was hoping that SP2 may not overwrite newer files/patches. "Mark L. Ferguson" wrote: "Windows Update is not working" could be the description of almost anything. On that count, no worrys, the updates will Not overwrite later 'hotfix'
files. It might, however, reset security settings to more moderate settings. It would all be a question of how tight you need the system. Often people over-ride update settings for personal preference. -- Was this post helpful to you? Then click the "Yes" button, below. Voting helps others who use the web interface. Mark L.
