Monitor won't return from power save mode
Hi,
XP Home Edition, SP2. Dual Core 64 bit processors. 500 gig disks. When I leave my machine, the automatic power save mode kicks in and turns off my monitor. This is great but sometimes when I need to get the monitor back on, moving the mouse and pressing keys will not do this for me - the monitor will not turn on again even if I turn the power to it on/off - and I have to do a hard re-boot. Any ideas on how I fix this? Regards, Steve. |

Monitor won't return from power save mode
Steve- Did you ever figure out how to fix this? I have the same problem and
have not gotten any feedback that worked. (A friend suggested to replace the power supply- I did, but the problem still exists.) Thanks! Beck, "Steve Wright" wrote: Hi, XP Home Edition, SP2. Monitor won't return from power save mode
I need the answer as well. I have replaced powersupply and monitor. This is
my 2nd PC to do this on this desk. I was thinking it was something with the electrical outlet; I now have a cord ran from down the hall. The 1st machine I have the problem with will not even come up now. The 2nd one will still come back after a cold boot. -jackie "Beck" wrote: Steve- Did you ever figure out how to fix this? I'm having the same problem....I have three displays which won't return from power-saving mode until I reboot. I tried switching off the power-saving mode and wrote a little utility which interfaces with the Windows API to turn the monitors off. Playing with this utility revealed that only when the monitors remained off for more than a couple of hours do they fail to come back. Switching them off and attempting to bring them back under 2 hours seems to work. No idea what is going on....video drivers are updated. Any info at all is appreciated. |
