XP Shutdown
When I try to shutdown or simply restart my XP Serv P2, it hangs up in
"windows shutting down" mode. I have to turn off tower and system manually. Is there a fix to this or should I try an earlier restore point. Tks all bill |

Follow the advice given by Malke for your issue. DO NOT try or do what Andrew has posted. It will create problems that you do not need. Andrew is dangerous with his advice and very NOT knowledgeable -- Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged. Getting closer, tks again all who took time to answer. You're welcome, Bill. If you are getting malware that is respawning, you might want to go further with the formal malware removal process, including: You can also check to see if there are targeted removal steps for your malware he Bleeping Computer removal how-to's - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum55.html When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the specialty forums listed at the first link above (not here, please). Standard caveat: If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local version of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). Please be aware that not all local shops are skilled at removing malware and even if they are, your computer may be so infested that Windows will need to be clean-installed. Have all your data backed up before you take the machine into a shop. Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" MS-MVP Windows - Shell/User |
