Default need an inkjet recommendation

Hi All,

Windows 10, Home build 1803

I have an customer with a broken HP 4655 inkjet printer:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product...ment/c04704159

Now that it is broken, she wants a replacement. She was unhappy
with the way it printed pictures anyway, so is glad to see it go.

It needs to be around 17.5" wide and 13.5" deep to fit on
her shelf.

Oh and she is funded and not cheap! Yippee! I can get her some
thing nice.

She also wants to fax and scan

Many thanks,
-T

We just bought a Canon MX922 Printer. I like Canon because they use
separate cartridges for the colors and 2 blacks, one for text and one
for photo.

This prints on CDs by using a special carrier for the CD, and it faxes,
and of course scans and copies. Wi-Fi too. I have it connect to my
wife's Windows 10 (loaded apps from included CD), and on my Linux Mint
18.3 (loaded drivers from Canon).

We've had it for a month maybe and love it. It cost $94 US though.

Cannon is good, but in my experience is wastes lots of ink, especially
if it is used infrequently. My last two also died completely in a
relatively short time (but past warranty).

I am now using an Epson 2750, and am well pleased with it.

Thank you!

I too purchased a Cannon MX922 and it works just fine.
Micro Center has them on sale for $39.99 as I write this at;
http://www.microcenter.com/search/se...=MX922+printer

I went to my local Staples and the store manager price matched it after
a little discussion. He wanted to know if Micro Center had a physical
store presence and I showed him a copy of the Microc Center web and
pointed out the IN-STORE ONLY category on the printer. He then said
they had to have an online presence as well, and again I showed him the
advertisement with the URL at the top of my printed page. After a
little more whining he matched the price and even ordered one for
delivery to my house at with no shipping cost since he only had a demo
model left.

Warning: if Staples ships the printer to you the box is clearly
identified as being a printer (big red box with pictures of the printer
on it) so if packages disappear in your location have it shipped to the
store for pickup.

Another note is that ink cartridges for this model are dirt cheap if you
purchase them at;
https://bestinkandtoner.com/canon/pixma-mx/pixma-mx922

I ordered one of the $15. set with two of everything and they arrived in
less than a week. Their shipping costs seemed reasonable as well but I
forget what the amount actually was.

I have a 5660. I wouldn't bother trying to print
photos. My ladyfriend does a lot of photography
and has an Epson R2880. I think it was about $2K
new and costs a fortune for ink/paper. It's also
far too big for your space. But that's the difference
between photo printers and "regular" printers.

If your friend wants good printed photos she needs
a good printer, and a good camera that shoots RAW,
and a fullscale graphic editor, and experience with
all of those.
Otherwise it makes more sense to just upload them
to an online service. The pictures come out pretty good
and the cost is low.

That's *very* limiting. She should probably
reconsider. Maybe add a piece to trhe shelf or
find another spot for the printer.

2nd'ed - i have an older flavour Canon MX925 (which has fax on it as
well) which came from an "end of line" mail order co in the UK

Used as a shared printer across PCs, iPads + a Mac
Ethernet + Wifi +USB + scanner + copier.
Scanner can be used across the LAN but easier via USB at least for me.

The Canon business machines seem better built than the consumer
oriented machines, and definitely last longer.

I too need one, but with the "print on DVD"
facility and these seem to have disappeared.
My trusty Epsom Photo R290 is still cranking them
out but now makes weird noises and the print
quality is wavering.

Is there a cheap dedicated DVD printer available
to print only black & white.

Take a look at the HP "OfficeJet 3830" --- exactly 17.5"
wide, black and (one) color cartridge. Can be set up to work wirelessly with
computer ---can receive and print e-mail ---send and receive faxes ---
can use as a copier also

90% Fake Spot rating too. (That is a good number.)

I am not aware of any Black & White DVD printers.

I recently bought an Epson Premium XP-820 from the Epson online shop
for $279, which included free delivery.

There is a cheaper option which may suit you. The Epson online shop
sell an Epson Premium XP-640 for $179, which includes free delivery.

You should be able to find user manuals which will describe the
supported functions in greater detail.

It is possible that there are some Canon printers at cheap prices
which suit your needs but the freight charges may frighten you !!

Good luck,

WHY would you buy a printer from New York and pay $102.45 freight
costs?

And would the power supply accomodate 240v ?
