HP 3300 and WINXP

I have a new computer with XP home installed. Installed on
the USB port is Hp 3300 laser printer. Lpt1 has Eltron
2442 for the UPS shipping program. When I want to print to
the laser the Printer control program has that it is
printing but it is not. Looking in the Printer area the Hp
is in grey. If I restart the computer or reload the XP
drivers the spooler program says that there are documents
to be printed and do I want to print them. OF COURSE. But
the next time I want to print there is a chance that the
problem will occur.
Any Ideas?
