Sounds like WPS Office is not writing everything to registry.

"Everything"??

Either that or the wps program does not have the
code to set itself as a default program in win8.

It does if I go through "association" rather than "default programs".

If you get bounced back to Win Explorer at step 2, by simply right clicking
on a file, then you have bigger issues to deal with than WPS file

. :-) After the right-click are steps 3
and 4 and then I get bounced back.

I was simply repeating what you wrote! :-)

I noticed that...

His last comment would have been more accuratley expressed as "Not quite
as simple as I wrote", where I = Electrician.

I wrote a 4-step process that I went to. Char reduced it to two steps.

You wrote:
1. Open Windows Explorer.
2. Find a .doc file and right-click it
3. Open with choose default program more options look for another
app on this PC
4. Navigate to c:\program files(x86)\WPS Office\9.1.0.4746\office6 and
double click wps.exe

I get bounced back to the Windows explorer screen in 2. above.

I'm sorry, but it looked to me like that last line means that you "get
bounced back to the Windows explorer screen in 2. above". In other words, I
thought you meant it like you wrote it. I see now that you meant to say "get
bounced back to the Windows explorer screen in 4. above".

Anyway, it sounds like a reinstall mostly sorted it out.

You've got to stop reacting to what people write and start reacting to
what they mean instead.

Especially with regard to my posts :-)

And with that, my list of "You've got to's" just spilled over to yet another
page. :-)

Yours aren't a problem.
