Default How China Used a Tiny Chip to Infiltrate U.S. Companies

The attack by Chinese spies reached almost 30 U.S. companies, including
Amazon and Apple, by compromising America’s technology supply chain,
according to extensive interviews with government and corporate sources.

*Their trust in the goodness and integrity of the communist Chinese

I have said before and I'll say it again, use Chinese products at your
peril.

You have been warned.

A few days ago we had a user blaming Microsoft when his Lenovo started
sending his details back to China.* He didn't even bother to think* that
his machine is Chinese made and it is likely to be booby-trapped.* There
is no point in blaming Microsoft when you are using a Chinese product.
In fact, be aware of Russian Anti-Virus product called Kaspersky or
whatever it called.* It is another hotspot for spying on users in Europe
and North America.

Mai-Wai-Chang (or whatever this little chink is calling himself these
days) is a product of China (or his body contains 99.95% Chinese DNA)
and I don't receive any of his posts because he's known to be spammer.

Well of course no one is saying whether its true or not.

The story is in The Register, the FT and I think I've seen it in the
tabloids

The photo in the bloomberg article is not of a chip. It even has a heat
sink! At size, it would not work, not serve any purpose. It also has plugs!

All we see is denial from Apple of their part in the story. Did you
expect them to put their hands up and admit their server products
have been hacked?

Goodness knows why we allow Huawei stuff into the UK!

more than just apple.

apple-supermicro-and-beijing-respond
In emailed statements, Amazon, Apple, and Supermicro disputed
summaries of Bloomberg Businessweeks reporting. Their statements
are published here in full, along with one from a Chinese foreign
ministry spokesperson.

My Microsoft account gave Lenovo my email address when I fired up my new

welcoming spam. (My MS account also gave my email address to this Tbird
app I'm using. Especially spooky when one wishes to remain anonymous.)

his machine is Chinese made

Actually my Lenovo laptop was American made in Whitsett N.C., USA. The
company also has factories in Japan, Brazil, Germany and Mexico.

There is no point in blaming Microsoft when you are using a Chinese

Microsoft was the one who gave away my email address without my consent.
I switched to a local account, blocked the Lenovo emails, and
deleted the Lenovo bloatware.

The only problem I've had with a local account is that some apps in the
MS store demand a MS account before allowing downloading. MSN News is
one example. (But I can read virtually the same thing in a browser so no
loss there.)

Parts are from China. Why are you so stupid. ##trump wants America to
be great again because everything is Chinese. Why don't you know this?
Do you watch or listen to news at all?

Microsoft was the one who gave away my email address without my consent.

No it was the idiot sitting between the keyboard and a chair who sent it
to Lenovo.

Tell us how did you buy the machine. Did you go to the shop and paid
for it and collected it or was it online and delivered to you at your
home address? Most people do the latter.

Correct. Microsoft is running a store. No store can allow you anything
free unless you give them your details. Try downloading anything from
anywhere these days such as Reports or some technical papers. They all
require your eMail first. That is something you don't know and it is
shocking.

Course I did. I followed MS instructions to the letter. I have all green
check-marks now. Well, except for the account protection one. It wants
me to revert to my MS account. It's YELLOW... 8-O

It was a new installation. No 3rd party crap downloaded yet.

Probably some parts from India and Mexico too.

it was the nice person sitting between the keyboard and a chair who

Nope, it was an automatic laptop inter-uterine transfer.

Tell us how did you buy the machine.

Big sale at Best Buy.

there is no problem with Windows 10.

Not anymore. The local account solved it.

Just SOME of the MS store apps require the MS account. MOST of the apps,
free or otherwise, download just fine with the local account.
