From an administrator command prompt. https://www.ghacks.net/2014/08/18/ho...ndows-updates/ wusa /uninstall /kb:2982791 ******* As I understand it, there are some patches which are a black hole flavor. They don't have uninstall options. And may be related to "service stack for next OS revision". But for regular updates, you may be able to get them from the command line. Since you've already shown us some registry damage, maybe those entries (for WU) are borked too ? Paul |

Paul No, it seems there are some that you just cannot uninstall. https://www.dropbox.com/s/rf8gzvkps2...tall2.jpg?dl=0 Well, not strictly true it, but this http://borncity.com/win/2016/10/21/w...ion-erzwingen/ not only looks too heavy for my lowish level of tech savvy but also riskier than I'd like to attempt. Terry, East Grinstead, UK It's a Servicing Stack update. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...vember-30-2017 https://superuser.com/questions/1096...w-does-it-work In theory, it shouldn't have side effects. It really should not be playing around with user-facing OS functions. Typically it contains edits to control piracy or the like. Or set something up, such that flags necessary for the next OS upgrade are set. That sort of thing. Mixing other settings changes with it (like making the Cortana box turn white), that's a dumb move on the part of MS. Just as putting security updates in with back ported crap to promote your business plan is a mistake (for the older OSes). Crap belongs in the Optional section of Windows Update, while Security Patches belong in the other half of the WU screen on Windows 7. The best way to correct this, is restore from backup. And hope there is a way to block it. Paul |
