Annoyance while moving folders.

Whenever I want to relocate a folder within a drive, I get a popup that
says:

"Could not find this item."
"This no longer located in [D:\path]. Verify the item's location and try
again."

I hit the offered "Try again" and the operation is completed with no
problem. I never had this happen in earlier versions of Windows. Is
there some way to get Windows 7 to stop doing this?

This may not apply to you, but maybe it will offer a clue.

Quite awhile back I did one of those Registry hacks that disables the
Libraries function in Windows Explorer. One of the side effects was
that EVERY TIME I attempted to move a file or folder I would get the
exact same message you described above. Clicking "Try Again" was
always successful in completing the move. I eventually undid the hack,
restored the Libraries, and the annoying message hasn't been seen
since.

Have you done anything like that, or did this behavior just come out
of the blue?

That did it. Thanks! Now I have to decide which is more annoying, this
popup or Libraries. I disabled Libraries years ago when I first
installed W7, but I never associated it with this annoyance. It has
been around for a long time. I just never got around to trying to fix it
until now.

That did it. Thanks! Now I have to decide which is more annoying, this
popup or Libraries. I disabled Libraries years ago when I first
installed W7, but I never associated it with this annoyance. It has
been around for a long time. I just never got around to trying to fix it
until now.

Even a blind squirrel, (me, in this case), gets lucky sometimes. :-)

Where you moving files that coming out of or going into "special"
folders tracked by the OS?
