Default Updating from Windows 7 to windows 10

I have been given a computer to renovate and I thought to try windows 10
on it.
It has windows 7 32bit Os on it at the moment.

I put a larger HDD in it and installed the creators Pro edition of
windows 10 on it as a clean install. I used a DVD made from the
downloaded ISO available on the internet.

Install went well but I cannot activate the Win 10 even though I have
put the Win 7 product code in. The product code is is from the sticker
on the side of the computer box.

I wanted a clean install as the win 7 that was installed on the original
HDD (Which I still have) had been partly cleaned out by the previous
owner and would need a bit of housekeeping to clean it up.

I have tried the activation troubleshooter in Win 10 with no success.

Any ideas as to where to go from here.

You need to first install Win7 and activate it.
Once Win7 is activated you can upgrade to to Win10 and it should be
activated when done.

I have done it that way several times and it worked.

If win10 does not work out for you , you can uninstall it and go back to
Win7

That said, for you to go thought the trouble may not be worth it so
there is an alternative.

You can actually just purchase a win10 product number on eBay.

I did that for a machine where I performed a fresh win10 install.
System activated with no problems.

It was under $10 and it worked fine. Since eBay watches out pretty
carefully for fraud, my assumption is the people who are selling the
keys are doing so legally.

I didn't think the 7-10 free upgrade still worked. Thought that was
only for the first year?

You're right, the offer was officially supposed to only be available
for that one year. However, there have been recent reports that the
upgrade still works.

You need to buy a new license for Windows 10. Free upgrade is no longer
available unless you registered and activated windows 10 when it was
freely available. Microsoft can't give away freely its one of the
most secure operating systems around but you can still buy the license
of Windows 10 so nothing is lost.

Do you qualify for Assistive Technologies such as having a mental
breakdown? If so try this link:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/accessibility/windows10upgrade

You have to be honest to get this as Microsoft will ask you simple
questions like why is {2 + 2 5} in Business? The answer is synergy
but you don't have know this.

Here's some info:
http://www.zdnet.com/article/heres-h...ws-10-upgrade/

Besides having a valid Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 key which entitles a user to
a free upgrade to Windows 10, apparently using the Media Creation Tool
will still get a user a free upgrade.

This thread was about whether one qualifies for the free upgrade of
Windows 10 on the grounds of mental illness. You have just proved to us
that you do qualify for it.

Now go ahead and get a copy before Microsoft changes its mind.
