120 second delay in network startup
I recently performed a full install of XP Pro SP2 (not an upgrade or a patch)
on my Gateway laptop. When I startup the computer, everything seems to come up fine. As soon as I try to access my wired OR wireless network (with my SMC 802.11b card), I experience a 120 second delay before my network is available. After the delay, everything works fine until I shut down the system. I have reviewed all of my network setings and adjusted them to various outher settings with no avail. Any ideas or suggestions? |

Are you using a third-party firewall? You may need to upgrade to the latest version. We were experiencing similar symptoms with the Sygate Personal Firewall on our Windows boxen after SP2. Sygate put out an upgraded version and that fixed the issue. Perhaps you have something like that? 120 second delay in network startup
This is a service startup deadlock. Usually occurs when users alter their
services' startup settings from automatic to manual or vice-versa. Have you changed any of those settings? -- Ken Wickes [MSFT] This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. "Kenneth" wrote in message ... 120 second delay in network startup
I thought that might be a problem. I uninstalled Zone Alarm from my system
and tested the change, but I noticed no difference. I also tried with the built-in firewall enabled and disabled, but there was no change in my network startup time. Thanks for the suggestion.
