Default How to access Usenet Newsgroups

Hey, anyone there?

I sure can access msnews.microsoft.com. But, they are related to Microsoft
products and services.

How can one access Usenet Groups using Outlook Express?

Thanks.

See if your ISP runs a newsserver. Otherwise, you may want to register
with http://news.individual.net/

You're accessing Microsoft's server, msnews.microsoft.com. That server
carries only the microsoft.public.* groups.

To find other groups, you'll have to find a different Usenet server.
Check with your ISP, they probably have one that carries a wide array
of groups. If not (some are too cheap to offer this) there are other
services that you can subscribe to to get access.

I'm not sure what you're asking. Is it how to access newsgroups that aren't
Microsoft newsgroups?

If that's your question, you do it exactly the same way as with Microsoft
newsgroups. The only difference is the server name. Outlook Express supports
using multiple news servers.

If your ISP provides a news server (many, but not all, do), ask them for the
server name and set it up in Outlook Express just as you did this one.

If your ISP doens't provide a server, google for other choices. Some are
free, but the better ones usually have a small fee.
