Now to reinstall all my apps.

It is a Toshiba and the toshiba apps cannot connect to the mother ship

Hopefully all in one app that I can just set to run and walk away.
I have wasted too much time on this hunk of junk already.

Your PC seems to be cursed.

At this point, I am wondering it you have tripped across

Give Win10 another 5 years and you'll be paying for almost everytime you
run a specific peice of software, e.g. you'll pay for the "free to
install" software everytime you use it and not just the one time
purchase..

Windows Support Center - could it be resurected?

A. User asked on January 1, 2012

As some folk reading here will know, there is a very comprehensive
Windows Support web site he http://aumha.org/

For some reason the site owner, an MVP, has not kept the site current by
updating to Windows 7 but a lot of valuable work was done in years gone by.

Might it be possible, perhaps, for Microsoft itself to take over the
facility and bring the site right up to date? (even if a fee had to be
paid!)

I personally feel that there is much potential for further development.

FYI ...............
**
James Eshelman says, here, http://aumha.org/jae.php .......

"Welcome! In July 1999, I began this site as a small collection of
articles gathered from my newsgroup posts and OnComputers “Geek Speak”
radio broadcasts. With help and encouragement of friends and colleagues,
acceptance of the technical press, and the frequent visitation of
computer users around the world, it grew, in about a year and a half, to
become one of the most widely cited and referenced Windows web sites in
the world outside of www.microsoft.com itself. (This isn’t bragging —
it’s numb-brained humility in the face of it all.) Please make
yourselves at home and enjoy the site!"

**

Why on earth would anyone let such a successful site fall into such a mess?

It beggars belief!

D.

Be honest. "A. User" is the generic name shown in the Microsoft forums

course. Banned so many times.

It's not a mess. It's an abandoned web site. In fact, it is SO abandoned
that it no longer exists.

www.annex.org is 'alive and well'.

Thomas Edison's teachers said he was "too stupid to learn anything." He
was fired from his first two jobs for being "non-productive." As an
inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light
bulb. When a reporter asked, "How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?"
Edison replied, "I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an
invention with 1,000 steps."

http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-3...aged-area.html

The description of the problem and the possible solution are all in that
page.

The error has been around for decades, it's not something new to Windows
10. I can recall seeing it in Windows XP too. The same solution exists
for all versions of Windows going back to the Windows NT line.

So I did a reinstall with save my files included.
Interestingly, several sysinternal apps remained but all my installed
apps are gone. More time wasted.
I installed.

Just because you didn't get this error in XP or 7 doesn't mean that it
couldn't have happened on those versions too. Some kind of necessary
file has gone missing or corrupted, and if the same happened under XP or
7, then the same BSOD would've been spewed out.

Now that you're already reinstalled everything, what do you expect us to
do? If you hadn't done that, then there were solutions to try before
going through with a complete reinstall. Some of the solutions were
listed above in the page I linked to. Others included going into Safe
Mode and seeing if it was stable there. Then there is a version of a
Windows reinstall, available at least since the XP days, called the
In-Place Upgrade Install, which doesn't uninstall all of your apps when
replacing old Windows with clean Windows. Were these things you tried
before going to the full reinstall option?

At some point you're going to have let go of your "Win 10 hate", and
actually learn to use it properly. So instead of railing against the
world for having forced you to upgrade your OS, just get to know it. The
rest of us have gone through our own learning process, and still going
through our learning processes everyday.

It took half a day to reinstall Win 10. That is outrageous !
Now to reinstall all my apps.

It is a Toshiba and the toshiba apps cannot connect to the mother ship
and are useless! More junk.

Standard solution to these cases is to go to the Toshiba website and see
if there are newer versions of these apps.

I am typing on this Win 10 laptop right now.
M$ Edges sees the internet through my WiFi but toshiba app connect to
the mother ship.
BTW the wifi remained set up during thi reinstall.

Of course WiFi will remain setup during the reinstall, the WiFi comes
from the router/modem, not from your laptop. But during the Windows
reinstall, it's not actually using any network connections, it's all
using local media, such as USB drive or optical drive.

THE BIG QUESTION
Where can I get free diagnostics for the laptop ?
Memory tests, disk tests, chips tests etc.
Hopefully all in one app that I can just set to run and walk away.
I have wasted too much time on this hunk of junk already.

There isn't just one app does it all, you need to learn to use several
standard apps.

He also electrocuted cats, dogs, an elephant or two, and invented the
electric chair in his 'fight' against AC. Those are details not
typically covered in history books during grade school though. Most
people know him as the father of the lightbulb. Did you know he let a
friend of his drown when he was a kid? Yep, they went swimming together
and his 'friend' went under the water. Thomas made no effort to recover
him. That's another detail that isn't covered in the school books I had
access too as a child. He was quite self absorbed, even at a young age.
