You call them compression tabs, I call them clippies; let's Karl

I decided not to use a saw or Dremel on the all-in-one. Or even a
solvent, for that matter.

If you drink the solvent, you'll find that just
about any tool will "open" it :-)

Gee, Paul, you make troubleshooting sound like FUN!

Which solvent do you think is best?

Thanks for the new perspective :-)

I recommend different kinds of mix, to go with.
And maybe a tiny umbrella to go in the glass.
Bon appetit.

Any solvent in a storm...

I'm not so sure that a drink that looks like that is suitable for a
mature adult. Might be OK for me, though.

I was thinking particularly of things like the monitor failing.

When was the last time you saw a failed monitor?

Yep, and I don't use an inkjet. I greatly prefer a laser printer.

Too expensive for me. :-) Do you have a separate scanner and fax?

Well, depends how much printing you do as to whether it's too expensive
or not. (As for faxing, I haven't for many years, and when I did, it was
using software - Windows 9x, or it might even have been 3.1! - for my
MoDem; I never had a fax machine as such.)

Well, though not an enthusiast myself, I understand the Scottish make
some nice solvents. (This from a colleague who once sent the department
a postcard saying he was touring the glens - GlenLivet, GlenMorangie,
....)

Back in the '80s we bought tons of QEMM licenses because we needed
to run a DOS app in Windows 3.0 and Windows for Workgroups. DOS
Himem couldn't get enough stuff into high memory for us to to it,
but with QEMM we could eke it out.

Trying to configure stuff to work together using autoexec.bat and
config.sys was a real challenge. I was good at it back in the day,
but I've forgotten all that now.

I've forgotten all that too.

You took the words out of my mouth!

I wish I still had some of the .bat files I wrote for bbs's. Some
were a challenge with some of the doors and their needs.

While you do not have the bbs bat files, you can still use bat files in
Windows 8.1. You have to be a little more careful as the directory
name are large, but the bat files works.

I think it is funny as some large companies have all of these security
regulations and locks on the individual computer. But most of the
computers in the system can be accessed and manipulated with a bat file.

Americans that knows how to pronounce "Islay."

hours has really impressed me. If you are frustrated over non MS Word
word processors like me, this one is definitely worth a look. And it can
be portable too. ;-)

There is an update on the site to ver 1.6.2.2

Just in case someone wants to update theirs.
