Default xp sp2 downloading files problem.

I one time tried to download a .zip file and I was asked whether I

there was an option not to be asked that question again for that kind
of file. And that's where the problem began. Now I cannot download a
zip file, it only open it. Does anyone know how I can restore it to
the previous value?

That is *NOT* a Windows XP SP2 issue.
That is *NOT* even a Windows XP issue.
That *IS* a end-user issue.

You checked the box, you told it not to ask - it has been like that since
Windows 95.
Here is what you need to do to restore the question.

Open Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) - you may also just open "My
Computer".
From the top menu choices, choose Tools - Folder Options.
Select the "File Types" tab.
Scroll down the list until you find "ZIP" (Likely at the bottom, considering
the letter..)
Select it by clicking on it once.
Click the "Advanced" button.
Find the checkbox for "Confirm open after download" and make sure it is
CHECKED.
OK your way out of this situation back to just Windows Explorer/My Computer.

If you want it straight from Microsoft, here is the fix:

XP SP2 is zipped ? Oh well, the choice is from whom youre downloading
from, either thier zipped or not zipped, the selection isnt up to you. However
if zipped,R.click the file, select extract, the file or folder is unzipped and ready
to use.
