Default Query the Windows XP Customize newsgroup

Over the past year or two, this news group was quite popular as a forum for
questions about customizing the Windows XP interface.

Since Microsoft closed down all of it's newsgroups in August / September, I
thought that was it for " microsoft.public.windowsxp.customize " but it
seems that someone ( nntp.aioe.org ) liked it so much, that they took it
over and host it on their servers now!

Wonder if it will prove to be half as popular as it used to be?

Cheers, Tim Meddick, Peckham, London. :-)

Nobody "takes over" a newsgroup in that way really, except for private
closed newsgroups - even Microsoft didn't control it before they closed
their server. Servers exchange posts with each other on their common
newsgroups: posts will appear first (usually) on the server used by the
user making the post (I'm posting this , for example, via Plusnet, who I
think use the Giganews server), but usually propagate to the other
servers that take the 'group within a short time.

Wonder if it will prove to be half as popular as it used to be?

Well, I haven't moved it to my "dead groups?" folder, so it must have
had posts in it more frequently than my expire time for some time.

We really don't have any enemies. It's just that some of our best friends are
trying to kill us.
