Can't connect wifii printer to fios/optical router.
I got Verizon FIOS/optical phone/internet a few months ago and had no
trouble connecting the wifi printer to it. (It had been connected to the DSL wifi router.) The Verizon router wired connection failed (while the wifi continued to work) and they sent me another one**. On the Brother Multi-function Printer MFC-625DW, there is a touch screen and I tried the Connection Wizard. I also pushed the Connect button on the router (2 curved arrows in a circle) and the printer found the router (that is, it displayed the Wi-Fi name) and it wanted the Key. I took that to mean the WiFi password on the same sticker on the router as had the Wifi name, and I entered that. The printer rejected it. Twice. Even t hough I'm positive I typed it correctly the second time and probably the first, fur099rag4486shone . I thought that the first time I didn't even have to enter the password so the next time, I scrolled farther down and found WPS/AOSS. I used that and after a minute, it said it was connected. The status key says it's Connected, signal is strong, infrastructure mode. But the printer doesn't show on the PC in the list of Devices and Printers, and it's not offered as a printer choice when I want to print something. Is something wrong with infrastructure mode? Maybe I want superstructure mode! I did WPS/AOSS twice, with the same result, connected but not on the PC. So what is wrong? And if you don't know, is there another active ng I should ask, and should I call/chat Verizon or Brother? Who is more likely to know the answer. **They barely mentioned that I had to send back the bad one, and it was iirc $160 if I didn't. It was only mentioned at the bottom of an email that mostly said the new one was coming. I didn't even read the email because the subject line was enough. And there was a shipping label included with the new one, but no actual instructions to send back the old one. (At least return shipping was free, and I got an email within an hour thanking me for returning it, even though it couldn't have gotten far from the UPS office by then.) Not really a specifically win7 or win10 question but I don't know where else to ask. I'm using win7 fwiw. |
