Default Can't browse network but can access network resources

sounds like master browser issue. use browstat.exe from nt resource kits to
check it or stop computer browser on xp to test it.

I've got a Windows 2000 domain with 1 W2K Server and '98
and XP workstations. On the XP machines only, if I try to
browse the 'entire network' (My Network Places / Entire
Network / Microsoft Windows Network/network name) I
usually (but not always) get this error message:

"{local domain name} is not accessible. You might not
have permission to use this network resource. Contact the
administrator of the server to find out if you have
permissions.
An invalid operation was attempted on an active network
connection."

Sometimes it just displays the network neighbourhood
fine, as I would expect. Other times the error. Sometimes
a log-off & on again fixes it but sometimes not. There is
no problem accessing mapped drives & computers directly
using \\computer name.

Any suggestions?
