I have long had the setting to display the extensions on all files on
Windows Explorer. I just got a new system and cannot remember or find
the way that was done. Any ideas?

Well, you don't tell us if you are windows 8 or not, but being that this
is a win 8 newsgroup, here goes win 8. It's more simple than you think
in 8.

Open windows explorer, the file icon on the taskbar. Pick any folder.
Click the view tab on the ribbon and you'll see options for all sorts
of view options. One of course... tada... file extensions.

It's easy enough in W7. Click on Organize in the top of the window and
go to the View tab in Folder and search options.

Control Panel, Appearance and Personalization, Folder Options, Show
Hidden Files and Folders, remove checkmark for Hide File Extensions of
Known File Types.

I did click on the view option earlier but missed seeing the extension
option. Old age and old eyes. Thanks

No issue, I read these newsgroups all the time and say it all the time
"dang I never saw that right in front of me... that's easy".

Another day, another $.
..... well 25 cents now.

No, no! It's $5 now. It's only *worth* 25 cents now.
