Network Cable
I installed XP about three days ago, and ever since then,
about every 15-20 seconds, in the taskbar, the network icon, with a red X appears, with a caption saying, "Local Area Connect - 'A network cable is unplugged.'" I go into network conncetions, and there's only one connection there, and it says it's working properly, and also at the same time, I'm connceted to the internet, so it is cleary connected. If anyone could tell me how to fix the problem, or even at least and more importantly, stop the message from popping up, it'd be a great help, thanks. |

This Microsoft Knowledge Base article might help, even if your network card isn't the one listed the MSBBN: "A Network Cable Has Been Unplugged" Message Appears at Seemingly Random Intervals http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;811595 Other possibilities include downloading and installing the latest XP-compatible network card driver, and checking the network cabling. -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see.
