HELP Network (2pc's) Wont's work??

Plaese could you help me i have got two pc's and i want
them networked up so i brought this USB link network
cable to network the two computers up externally.
Connected via USB and both computers have USB ports so i
followed the instructions and everything by installing
drivers on the remote and local pc's.

But for some strange reason it's coming up under the
network connectsions screen that the network cable is
unplugged. (when it isn't!!!)

You may have the product whcih is percurchsed whcih is
the Genlink Network Adapter (USB network Cable)

Could you please tell me why this is happening or suggest
how to fix the problem.
