Default CyberLink Software

I have Windows 10 v. 1809, 64-bit.

I just noticed the following programs from the Start menu:
* CyberLink LabelPrinter
* CyberLink Media Suite
* CyberLink Power2Go
* CyberLink ISO Viewer

I don't recall having installed such programs. Do they come packaged
with Windows?

Are they safe to remove?

Cyberlink used to be pre-installed on certain machines, it included DVD
playback and/or burning software ...

Did you lose a tooth lately and there was no money under your pillow?

If you bought a computer package, they might have been included. CyberLink
is a reputable software company.

You can always launch them and explore the registration information. Some
manufacturers include trialware.

They are perfectly safe to remove via Control Panel - Programs and Features
- select right-click - click uninstall...

But you may want to see if they're useful first.

Just saying.

They may come with a retail version of an optical drive. Did you
install a CD, DVD, or BD optical drive and also install the software on
the disc that came with it?

Could be bundleware. Makers often bloat the software bundle they put on
their builds. Makes it look like they gave you something more than just
hardware and an OS. However, often that bundleware is crippleware or
trialware (in a month, or two, it expires and tries to lure you to buy
the payware version). You mentioned the OS. You never mention the
brand and model of the PC that you have. Since you don't how the
software got there, you did not build the PC yourself but bought a
pre-built desktop or a laptop, notebook, tablet, or some other computer
that always comes as a pre-built.

ISObuster has a freeware version. Probably does as much as Cyberlink's
ISO Viewer. Even Windows 10's File Explorer can look into .iso files.

Cyberlink Label Printer is probably just what it says: prints labels on
optical discs. However, that means you have to buy the discs that have
surfaces that can have an image burned into them. Those are grayscale
and fade, so after a few years it will be difficult to read the label.
Unless you specifically bought a disc printer to print on discs that
have a ink printable surface (and which cost a lot more), the label
printer from Cyberlink is just to print on special discs. Those look
crappy if you intend to make commercial discs or, in any way, look
professional. If you want professional-looking labels on discs, you get
those that have a printable surface and you use a disc printer. You
could use cdburnerXP and other freeware to compile an image to print,
but you'll need the printer that handles discs to print on them. The
printable discs are also more expensive than standard discs. As for
burning a grayscale image on the disc (by using the laser in the optical
drive to burn onto the surface of a specially formulated disc), you must
have an optical drive that is capable of that function. You need an
optical burner drive that is Lightscribe or LabelFlash compatible (the
former is the more common).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LightScribe
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labelflash

You'll pay more for the optical burner drive with the feature. You'll
pay more for the surface burnable discs. You'll spend lots of time
designing the label. Besides burning the data onto the disc, you'll
spend time burning the label onto the disc. Results will be
disappointing: you get a 2-tone printing effect (a light gray on
whatever surface color the disc has). The printing will fade in a few
years, especially if not stored in a case and away from sunlight.

Unless you invest in the disc printer, just print insert labels to put
inside the jewel case with the disc.

Cyberlink's Power2Go is just burning software. You can get lots of
those for free, like cdburnerXP, imgburn, Ashampoo Burning Studio 2017,
BurnAware. I used cdburnerXP at one time but later switched to imgburn
and then to Ashampoo. I forget why I didn't like WinX DVD Author
(something about it wasn't kosher). Even Windows will burn a disc.

Cyberlink's Media Suite is one of those bundled programs (multiple
components) where you get a suite of mediocre functions. None are
great, all can be had for free with better freeware, but they put them
together, so the user doesn't have to hunt around for best-of-breed.
From what I see at Cyberlink's web site, the free Media Suite is
crippleware aka lureware to get you to buy into their Ultimate ($150) or
Ultra ($130) versions. Hopefully their crippleware won't watermark your
results, but I haven't checked.

That's not from Microsoft. Is your W10 OEM? Maybe it was from your
computer manfacturer?
