Default DEP,dxdiag, & DirectShow

When I run dxdiag (dx9.0c updated) DEP blocks DirectShow from running. I just
ran dxdiag about a month ago and this did not happen. I am running XP Pro
SP3 fully updated. Neither my virus scan nor Spybot show any problem.
I know that turning off DEP would be a very bad idea.
I suppose the simplest first step would be to reinstall DirectShow? If so,
how would I do that?
Thank you
