Right click on the field (not an icon itself) and select "arrange icons by..." You will have several choices depending on how the folder is set up. You can even have it set up to sort media files by artist and album if you want. |

Gary,
When I click on "Extra Large Icons", what sequence are the files in the current folder displayed in? In the order selected in the "details" mode (or, if you never went there, the alphabetical on filename one) Can I change the sequence that the files are displayed in? Yes. By going into "details" mode and than select the column header of the column you want to have the sorting in (and than go back to the "icons" mode ofcourse). How do I move a file displayed at the bottom so it's next to another file displayed at the top?

I don't like the sequence in which the "Extra Large Icons" are displayed.
In the "Details" views, I can sort the files by name, date or type. But I want the icons displayed by subject (so files of the same subject are next to each other). How can I do that? |

In the bar with the name of each field, click on the name of the field you want to sort on. To reverse the sort, from ascending to descending or vice-versa, click the same name again. |

I don't want the files sorted by file-name, date or type.
I want the files displayed the way I want them (by subject). |

When you click the column header line in Explorer, you get a thin list of things that can be added to the column headers. At the bottom of the list is "More". Select "More". A new dialog appears. Scroll down until you see "Subject". Tick the box, then click the button at the bottom. Since the list is not in a particular order, expect Subject to be further down the screen. Now, go back to the Explorer column headers, click the Subject one, and sort by Subject. As seen here. http://i57.tinypic.com/2zzhlja.gif In Tinypic.com , right-click the image in the lower right hand corner (my picture) and select "View Image" to get rid of the distracting animation on that site. You don't need to view the Tinypic.com image, if you can see all this stuff OK in the Explorer window. It's only for additional visual clues if you need them. Paul |

Where is the "extra large icons " option to be found? --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus |

When you're in Windows Explorer, an icon with a down arrow is in the top right corner.
Clicking on the down arrow displays a drop-down list. The first selection is "Extra Large Icons". Clicking on that selection displays the contents of the files in that folder. |

I only have the windows icon in the top right corner, and the only drop down list is on the view button - thumbnaile etc. Do you have additional software installed? I have seen "extra large icon" apps on download sites. No sweat, just curious. |

I have the large icons on my media box but I don't remember how I did it. There was nothing extra added. |
