O.T. - Connection Problem:
Here's my Avast information:
http://i63.tinypic.com/21j56bk.jpg I'm not aware that I'm using any VPN software but perhaps the VA site does since it's a third party software? That's the only medical I have and use. I'm disabled and not working. Yes, but even so the computer didn't have this problem previously and the 780 runs fine. What I don't understand is shouldn't the System Restore, and Mrimg taken care of the problem unless they are were infected? I used a Mrimg from May thinking it was far enough back. The thing is everything shows the computer is 'normal' but it's not yet today it booted up and connected like nothing was wrong with no issues. See what I mean? It's a strange intermittent problem. Now, those could be "the service has started" type messages. Or, there could be errors present. What I look for first, is messages that might have something to do with networking. DHCP is Dynamic Host Control Protocol, a way of getting local IP addresses from the home router. (I'm sure there's a lot more to it than that, but that's all we need in the current IPV4 environment.) ******* 7036 sounds familiar, but I don't memorize all these things :-) ID: 7036 Source: Service Control Manager Symbolic Name: EVENT_SERVICE_STATUS_SUCCESS So that's just the Service Control Manager waving hello at you :-) Apparently that's important enough, to waste an entry in the Event Viewer. Robert When you restored, it turned your Wifi back on again. In the Mobility control panel, you might be able to turn it off there, or use Disable in the Network control panel collection of controls. ******* Although, that is an impressive collection of icons. Three yellow things. One Wifi, one Avast maybe?, and the third one I cannot even hazard a guess. And the makeuseof is scattershot and all over the place. I don't think your icons are a notification problem, the Wifi and the Avast are of their own doing, so they don't need coaxing. And while the usual commands are listed netsh winsock reset netsh int ip reset the network troubleshooter should be doing those for you. I'm not against issuing commands, just make sure you know what they're doing. For example, if you were to delete entries in the protocol stack, it might be harder to find a proper recipe to put them back - sometimes the damage is easier to do, than the later repair. Paul |

The 8500 came normally again with no issues and was connected in about 6 minutes. Robert 2mgqlw3.jpg - Wireless Network 3 connection The four items are the routers of other people. The router sends out its ID, making it easier for the users of those routers to find them in the connection menus. Typically what you see in a neighborhood, is at least some of those are owned by ISPs. ******* One of your Wifi devices makes reference to "Virtual PC" which is virtual hosting software. The only thing I know of that even comes close on your machine, is the Avast Sandbox. When you turned off the Wifi, the miniport one running beside it disappeared as well. One less thing to worry about. Paul |

O.T. - Connection Problem:
Yes, I noticed the mini-port also
disappeared when I disabled the Wi-fi. It took the 8500 only 3 minutes to connect although to be fair, I still had the modem powered on when I booted the 8500. The Action Center flag appeared then disappeared then came back but everything seems normal Robert |

I timed the 8500 again and it took 6 minutes
from shutdown boot startup connected and no issues. The Quicktime/Apple update pop-up appeared again and this time I selected only Quicktime since you pointed out I already have it. I forget where I saw it but I had Google Chrome installed and so uninstalled that but Avast gave me a pop-up saying parts of Google Chrome did not uninstall. I didn't initiate the Avast program to delete them because I'm leery of things just popping up and saying let me fix this for you. Even if it is Avast saying it. Robert |

Robert I just tested here now, and an install of Chrome actually cleaned up after itself on Windows 10. I'm shocked! I expect to see crap all over the place. I do know that in the past, it left stuff running, so that's not a surprise. These are the things I found, while it was installed. https://s10.postimg.org/a6xwmbw09/google_annoy.gif The one at the bottom, was a bit strange. The installer was still running, after I rebooted the computer. I don't know what their intention was for that one. Uninstalling Chrome removes that. The one in the middle, the Task Scheduler entries, are meant to "undo damage" a user might do to their "services". You would "Disable" the items in the middle first, before attacking the ones in the top pane. And the ones at the top were spotted in Services. So those would be hiding in a SVCHOST. I would guess that it is a run of the ones in the middle, that causes an entry to appear in Task Manager. Happy hammering, Paul |

I did a scan on Agent Ransack for
Google Chrome: http://i68.tinypic.com/2cmq83s.jpg then did a Startsearch and typed in Chrome and it gave me this: http://i66.tinypic.com/x1detc.jpg and so I deleted it. Robert |
