Hey, Microsoft, stop installing third-party apps on clean Windows 10
installs!

Before Windows 10, a clean install of Windows only included the bare
essentials a user would need to get started using their PC. With
Windows 10, a clean install stays that way for about two minutes,
because the second you hit the desktop, the Microsoft Store immediately
starts trying to download third-party apps and games. Users have long
complained about it, but it turns out Microsoft never put paid to it.
Windows Central writes:
And these apps keep trying to install themselves even after you cancel
the downloads.

Why are you posting this here? We can't do anything about this. You
need to contact Microsoft directly and complain. We have no powers
here. Newsgroup users are only here to solve real problems, if any,
but nutters like you seem to be posting nothing but complaints and
wasting not only our time but yours also as nothing is going to be
solved by posting here.

Go to Microsoft website and look for Customer Services Contact details.
You could write to them and send your letter by registered post to
ensure you get a reply.

I have removed the cross-posting to your useless groups as you look
completely stupid by doing that. are you the same nym-shifter pedo who
now calls himself Arlene H Holder to conceal his/her identity.
Authorities are looking for him and your post looks almost identical to
his as he too is fond of cross-posting to useless newsgroups.

Good luck.

I was one of the early testers. I reported all the things I didn't
like but SFAIK none of them have changed. I'm not going to run with
W10 again so I've gone back to W7.

ack.

Win-10-nic is like the "70's Disco Music" of the computer world.

a) it was thought up by a minority of "developers"
b) it was foisted upon the rest of us by marketeers who "felt" they know
better what we need/want
c) it was ASSUMED to be "popular" and hyped as such, everywhere, mostly
by marketeers and fanbois
d) it contains "features" (and 'feature-creep') that MANY people (maybe
as many as HALF of the windows users) *REALLY* *HATE* and DO NOT WANT
[hence the drop in new computer sales since Win 8 and Win-10-nic became
the only options on new machines].
e) has that 'overly simplistic' look to it, in much the same way that
70's Disco "music" was boiled down to an over-simplified version with
minimal chords, 110bpm, over-repetition, like it was stamped out of
plastic and replicated with only minor changes for each "hit".

A bit of history on "70's Disco"... (think Bee Gees and KC and the
Sunshine Band, and Donna Summer - all of which pretty much sounds the
same from song to song like it was stamped out of plastic). It was a
fad, consisting of music that was ALL the same speed (110bpm) and had
specific drum and bass styles, minimal chords, and overly repeated
lyrics, that JUST! WOULD! NOT! DIE! like it should have, spawning
hedonistic dance clubs, horrible clothing styles, "thunka thunka thunka"
music 'at the speed of sex' pounding into your head from EVERYWHERE (TV,
ads, movies, radio, stores, etc.), and a *HUGE* *DIVISION* in people's
music preferences of epic proportion. You either LOVED it, or HATED it
with equal passion. Well, mostly.

Kinda like Win-10-nic.

The anti-Disco movement peaked in the late 1970's with things like THIS:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disco_Demolition_Night

That event, and a few beforehand, were a total WAKEUP CALL to the
clueless promoters who had "felt" that Disco was "popular". They HAD!
NO! CLUE! as to how UN!-popular it *REALLY* was among *SO* *MANY*
*PEOPLE*!!!

The over-reaching presence of "Disco Everywhere" drove people like me
*NUTS*, as in "how do you ESCAPE from this?" At my 'grad night' at
Disneyland in 1978, the ONLY band that was NOT a "Disco" band was 'Wild
Cherry' (and they're a FUNK band).

Quite literally, "they" were TOTALLY ****ING CLUELESS when it came to
about HALF of the teenagers that year, nearly all of which were
'Rockers' (and listened to album-rock and hard rock radio stations, NOT
the 'pop' and 'disco' and 'soul' stations), and some of which were
country music fans. NONE of the non-Disco-bunny teens were represented
in ANY way, and I complained, and so did many others

And now... take this situation and fast forward a few decades (4 decades
to be exact) and we have the "Win-10-nic FLATSO" "overly simplistic"
user interface being CRAMMED UP OUR ASSES along with fewer
customizations, the 'start thing', ads, strong-armed cloudy login and
other slurp/tracking, and forced updates [that often crash the OS or
render it unusable for a particular task], and the general attitude from
Micro-**** of "*WE* know best, so take what we let you have and shut up."

I believe there is a _HUGE_ number of people who are really really FED
UP with this CRAP.

And many of us POST HERE to VENT and make sure *EVERYONE* knows that we
exist!!!

We're HERE. We're quite POSSIBLY the majority. And we AREN'T going to
JUST TAKE IT much longer.

A backlash is coming. Once it starts, that ball will roll down hill and
won't stop until it hits the bottom (and rolls for a while after).

For me that ball started rolling down hill with Windows 8. When
Windows 10 came out I moved to Linux Mint permanently, and will never
use Windows again.

I have noticed a lot of Windows users have moved to Linux Mint and
Ubuntu.

I wonder if any one has actually paid to upgrade to Windows 10?

Yes, they have.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...82E16832588491

Look in the customer review section.

Every entry with a green "Verified Owner"
tick box, bought the product (~$150).

These are typically people building gaming
computers with $600 processors, from scratch.

Rich people just don't care about details :-)

The reason they might not buy Win7 from somewhere,
is Windows Update might not work properly with their
spanking new processor. Skylake and Windows 7 Windows Update,
work together well. Windows 10 Windows Update works with
all modern processors (no nags at least).

Then, I thought disco was bad, although I had no idea that later there
would be "music" that is much worse.

Maybe, I actually know something about the NEXT version of Windows...
