SP2 login:password@ no longer works in IE
Why the hell can I no longer access sites which use "login you get now is a error message from IE without Ie even attempting to access the site. I'm guessing its M$ taking a shotgun approach to the fraudsters and spammers, but in the process they have broken a useful feature. There any way to turn this stupid behaviour back to preSP2 (apart from uninstalling SP2)? |

Maybe you would like to do a little research around your problem. see http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../MS04-004.mspx and http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=832894 Which discuss your problem at length and also address workarounds. Since you are using the Preview of SP2 ideally you should have posted your question to the proper SP2 Preview newsgroups see http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro...p2preview.mspx The issue you are seeing is in both the security update and SP2 and can be workaround the same way as documented for both. However implementing the workaround lowers the security of your PC and makes you more vulnerable to various hostile attacks. Finally using "M$" in your post is hardly likely to ingratiate yourself with people that you are requesting help from. It I'm also not sure what having a belief "in evil" has to do with the use of our company name or ticker symbol. Yes MS may be used but that is not the correct formal (legally recognised) abbreviation for Microsoft. You are using an MVP e-mail address but you do not appear as a listed MVP in the US or EMEA. If you are not a Microsoft Most Valued Professional please do not use an mvps.org e-mail address. Finally as one of the leading worldwide software development companies I think you should reassess your view of what a real company is. -- Regards, Mike -- Mike Brannigan [Microsoft] This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights Please note I cannot respond to e-mailed questions, please use these newsgroups "David Candy" wrote in message ... The University of Luxembourg issues mvps.org email addresses. It has =
nothing to do with MS. In fact MVPs use this so as not to give any = control to MS over MVP email as even the MVPs don't trust you (there are = also private mailing lists at dts-l - again to prevent MS interfering = with MVPs). As an ex MVP I'm entitled to use this address. And it's got nothing to = do with MS.=20 Remember, as you know (cause I've told you before), I told you to shove = your MVP award due to your company's sleazy behaviour, denigration of = the Win 9x platform, and the fact I was accused as an MS mouthpiece = during the beta. I removed all ethical issues due to my relationship = with MS. MS decided to manipulate people to defend WPA. I did it anyway as I = viewed I was giving accurate technical information. The results was to = get stalked by the S3 Graphic corp (as they were called then). MS went = missing in action then. I've also been here for 9 years (just over). Longer than you. --=20 ---------------------------------------------------------- http://www.g2mil.com/Dec2003.htm "Mike Brannigan [MSFT]" wrote in message = ... "David Candy" wrote in message ...
