Default DirectX

Hi

I need some advive regarding DirectX. I currently have
directX V8.1 installed. Is it advisable to upgrade this
to the newer version V 9.

I do not use my computer for playing games.

I think I answered this in another group Martin, but in case you look he

If you use the machine for multimedia like videos, radio, DVDs, etc then I
would use DirectX9. If not ,the DX8 will be fine.

Hi Martin,

Not a gamer? What'd you buy a computer for? Work or something? sheesh

Ok, just kidding. If you don't using gaming software, installing DX9 is sort
of pointless. As doing any system upgrade carries with it an inherent risk
of screwing something up, I'd say "don't bother", as you have no use for it.
Most games that require it usually have it on the CD, if ever you should
choose to install it, it'd be far easier to do it at that time (no
downloading).

Hi Joseph,

Thank you for your reply. I do play CD's on the computer.
I have also experienced video card problems even though I
have downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia. Would
updating the Direcxt X anve any effect on the video card.
Nvidia Geforce4MX 440?
