Default O.T. - computer virus?

Understood

I only used the example given by Paul. Which is
why I asked if my System Restore has been affected
and is there some way to tell if so, short of running
System Restore itself.

In passing, I haven't done anything to the computer
per your advice.

I'm sure the Windows System Restore service and cache is in fine condition.
