I keep getting a popup saying that updates are available do I want to
install them. Is there any reason to not install them? |

You should always install the recommended critical updates
for Windows XP. There is no valid reason not to install them. -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows XP - Shell/User Microsoft Newsgroups Be Smart! A corrupted update file or some other local problem is usually the cause of
the posts you see here. You will never see a post that says "everything went great with my patch download today" except in response to a problem report by another poster. That means millions of patches when OK but a handful didn't and those are the ones you see here. -- Colin Barnhorst [MVP Windows - Virtual Machine] (Reply to the group only unless otherwise requested) "DanS" wrote in message ... But I'm also sure that there a lot of people that have problems that aren't aware of help groups like this and you don't hear from them, they have someone they know fix it for them. I'm just saying that you have the choice not to do it as well. Every update seems to be a 'Critical Update !'. You take precaution's, know the risks, configure according, AV, AntiSpyware, etc. Know what's supposed to be running, odd behavior, keep everything clean. So what are the latest 'critical updates' for the last 6 months ? But seriously, I know if I was just a casual user, what would really suck is waking up one morning and my new $500 'Dell' computer crashed because of some update that came down over-night, and after rebooting, it would just go into some bizarre re-booting pattern, that I had never seen before, and I had NO idea what-so-ever to do, because just got this computer 2 months ago and at work, the IT deparment/co-worker comes to fix it.
